Reflection on week 1

Today I have been getting comfortable around all the new people and finding out what groups Im in. So far I like my new class i think it’s really cool and the teachers are nice. One of the challenges is when I first got here was not knowing who was there and being nervous. My goal is to get more close with the teachers and get more comfortable around the class .

Monday Mash up

For Monday Mash up we have been learning one of Aotearoas official languages.

First we learnt the alphabet and how to count to 10.

Next we learnt how to say “hello my name is…” Finally we learnt how to spell our names. This is a video of me introducing myself in NZSL. I have also learnt 2 extra words.

Monday mashup

First for Monday mash up we had to get a piece of paper and draw our idea. Next we watch a video that was telling us how to join the clay together. so then we got started on our clay work. I  decided to make a pot with a heart on it. Then I had to paint it. The pot I picked  was blue and then I mix blue and green to make this pretty red colour.

Matariki blog

Matariki is a time to acknowledge the dead and to release their spirits to become stars. It was also a time to reflect, to be thankful to the gods for the harvest, to feast and to share the bounty of the harvest with family and friends.

For Art, we have been making a collaborative Matariki Star.

First we made are design. Next we had to get the foam and copy the design on it.  Then we had to get a pencil and then poke the foam.  The next thing is we have to paint it.

My Monday Mashup

For Monday Mashup, we made rollback toys.

First we drew a design plan based on a prototype rollback toy. Then we gathered all our materials.

My rollback toy is unique because I made a personal design.

The most difficult part about making my toy was putting the battery on the rubber bands .

I think I could make my next toy even better by make a different design.

Our rollback toys move on their own because you twist the rubber bands .
